Search Engine Marketing (S.E.M.)
Search Engine Marketing is the ability to increase web traffic and online presence by either paying for clicks or ranking high in search engines.
SEM has two approaches:
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization): using optimization techniques to increase search engine results or to achieve 1st page rank.
- PPC (Pay Per Click): paying Search Engines or Social Media in exchange for clicks to either your website or landing page.
Should You Use SEO or PPC?
Depending on your business budget, either approach can be effective. Both SEO and PPC can be very lucrative but ultimately it depends on how well your website is optimized, because don’t forget the 1st priority to any website is a “high conversion rate” or ability to convert a large percentage of web traffic into either customers or clients.
Search Engine Marketing – PPC
If your business website is relatively new, it will be much harder to outrank your competitors in Search Engines so it would be best to focus on PPC even if your budget is small because paid clicks have the potential to generate revenue if your website is optimized to convert visitors.
Search Engine Marketing – SEO
If your business website has been on the web for years but is not ranking on the 1st page of Search Results than it is definitely time for a redesign. Redesigning your website while optimizing it for search engines to rank for top level keywords will make a major difference in your online revenue.
